What a year! But we made it, and we made it really well, above and beyond expectations
It may sound like a cliché but my students have been the greatest and tenacious that they can be. We were all scared by what this virtual reality would bring us, and we were walking on tip toes on every single new activity carried out. As a teacher I have experienced the support, understanding and love of my young students who were always there giving tips on how to make things happen,
I may not agree with statistics that say our students have not grown as much as they would have under "normal" circumstances. In my opinion, there has been another type of growth that would have not been possible otherwise. Our teenagers have learned to appreciate learning, they have acquired skills to be independent, to self-organize themselves and even to motivate themselves when the only tool they would have was a cold spechless chrome book. They have shown they could make life possible in this pandemic when everybody else would be lost or trying to figure out how to reconfigure their lives.
My sweet students have proved how important it is to adapt, be flexible and compassionate when we struggle. I truly appreciate their words of love, perseverance and maturity over these difficult times.
I wish all of the students to cherish this learning and be able to enjoy the great things coexisting with people bring for next school year. Ojalá que podamos vernos, abrazarnos y seguir aprendiendo juntos el curso próximo. Whatever it is, we have proved we will overcome any difficulty and will make our world better.
